Give blood. Save a life.

It was a comical slogan that Erika was coming to know well. The saying was true. Blood donations saved lives. Though, the way this blood bank saved lives was a bit different than others. The donated blood didn’t go to transfusions or anything like that. This bank fed the vampires of the city and the surrounding area. It was one of her favorite places to frequent. Checking up on her favorite vampires was always a treat.
That didn’t mean that the girl gave blood. She knew better than that. Anyone that a vampire had fed off of had their memories transferred. Erika knew that her mind contained too many memories to let fall into the wrong hands. After nearly three centuries on the planet she had gained too much to just let go so willingly.
“Erika!” the girl smiled at the high pitched tone of the little girl’s voice. She knew that voice all too well. It was the daughter of one of the attendants human lovers that was turned after she was attacked by a snake and was going to die. It was the only want to save the child, but she would forever be stuck like that, “It’s been too long!”
Erika spun and caught the girl as she sailed through the air, “Myra,” the girl sighed as she sat the little girl down, “where’s Kathrine?”
“Oh,” the small girl shrugged, “mama’s not here. She said she had to run a shipment out of town. Said it would take a couple hours. Papi is here taking care of things. Though, he’s having a hard time taking blood. It’s almost cute. I’d do it, but people get kind of nervous when an eight year old tries to take blood.”
Erika laughed as she patted the girl on the head causing her satin curls to bounce, “Andre just doesn’t have a way with people. Never did.”
“Nope!” the girl giggled as she swatted Erika’s hand away, “He hasn’t even gotten any better over the past couple centuries,” she shook her head, “May the gods help him.”
“Now, I know you don’t worship the gods. You don’t have to say that because I’m here,” Myra sighed as Erika continued, “I’m actually here because I heard of a rogue vamp in the area. Would you happen to know anything?”
“Well,” Myra started to chew her bottom lip and Erika knew that the little girl knew something, “I…”
Erika shook her head. She knew what the little girl was trying to hide. She didn’t need to know any more. The rogue vamp was a human that she had accidentally turned. It hadn’t been the first time and Erika knew that it wouldn’t be the last time. Myra was over two hundred years old and she didn’t like needing to have a chaperone at all times. She only turned someone when she went out alone and someone tried to abduct her, “Don’t worry. Just tell me where and what he looked like.”
“Down town,” she sighed, “He was only about sixteen or seventeen. He didn’t try to hurt me. He actually tried to save me, but the perve had a gun and well…”
    “He’s a savior?”
“Yeah…” Myra sighed again as she looked down at the floor, “Mama and Papi have been trying to find him, but he’s been hiding well. He hasn’t even slipped up and killed anyone. I feel that he can’t stand the idea of hurting someone. He only feeds on animal and he’s going to die,” her gaze jumped back up to Erika those crystal orbs bright with unshed tears, “I want to help him. I want a brother.”
“Right,” Erika offered the girl a reassuring grin, “I’ll find him. There’s no one better at tracing a vamp than me!” Myra smiled, “Just tell me what he looked like.”
“He was tall and slender with dark hair and beautiful green eyes,” the little girl sighed, “Oh, those eyes. They were glowing in the moonlight.”
“Glowing eyes,” Erika shook her head, “That’s not good,” she sighed, “I need to find this kid. He’s in real danger and so are we if he dies,” with that the girl spun and started for the door. The only thing that was going through her head was the what the glowing green eyes meant. A soul that was valiant enough to stand up to a guy with a gun to save a little girl and withstand the call of human blood after being freshly turned. There was something special about this kid and she hoped her hunch was wrong. Especially if he was turned into a vampire. It would have just been better if he were to die.
    “Erika?”
Erika ignored the girl’s question as she pushed the door open and heard the sounds of the city. The boy needed to be found to save everyone. Everyone.
A little twist on vampires that I'm having fun with. Leave comments and criticisms please. Just want to get opinions.
